Kenneth Branagh won Best Actor for his role as Wallander at the 2017 International Emmys in New York last night.

Kenneth Branagh said, ‘Henning Mankell was an internationalist. He would have been delighted at this Emmy recognition. Our Wallander was made by a truly international group of artists, who loved this troubled policeman as much as the public did.
It was a privilege to inhabit that fracturing mind over 12 films. The International academy have created a fantastic way to say farewell.
Coming at exactly the time Fox have commited to developing a second Poirot film, it’s been a hell of a day at the office!’

Andy Harries said,  ‘I am genuinely delighted that Kenneth Branagh’s outstanding final performance as Inspector Kurt Wallander has won an International Emmy.  It is the series that launched Left Bank Pictures and this is deserved recognition of 12 great films for the BBC and Masterpiece.  A chapter is closed, what a great way to say farewell to an iconic series.’
