Keira Knightley and former Screen Stars of Tomorrow Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Jessie Buckley have boarded Miss World feature Misbehaviour.

The Crown outfit Left Bank Pictures is producing and Pathé will be starting sales at the upcoming American Film Market.

Pathé will also distribute in the UK, France and Switzerland.

Philippa Lowthorpe (Three Girls) will direct the feature, from a screenplay by Rebecca Frayn with revisions by Gaby Chiappe (Their Finest).

The story is based on the 1970 Miss World competition, hosted by Bob Hope in London. The live broadcast, watched by more than 100 million viewers at the time, was interrupted by a stage invasion from the Women’s Liberation Movement. There was further controversy when the surprise winner was Miss Grenada, the first black woman to be crowned Miss World.

Suzanne Mackie (Calendar Girls) and Sarah-Jane Wheale are producing for Left Bank.

Executive producers include Andy Harries and Rebecca Frayn for Left Bank, and Cameron McCracken and Jenny Borgars for Pathé.
